THINGS # 7 & 8 RSS & NEWSREADERS

RSS & Newsreaders do seem like a huge way to short cut the gathering of information or the keeping up to date with news in blogs should you be inclined to want to be bombarded with masses of stuff like this on a regular basis. Even someone like myself who likes to be extremely selective about the information they receive can see some benefits of things popping into their own special place to be retrieved and read at leisure.

THING #6 TECHNOLOGY

I guess the thing that most comes home to me with what I have seen today is the need to master (mistress) some of the more basic technologies needed to achieve some sophisticated results. This is from someone who gets her son to charge her mobile phone. In my case I need to badly want to achieve an end result in order to learn the technological steps involved to make this happen. Flickr just could be the carrot I need.

THING # 5 FLICKR FUN

Interesting seeing how far you can take some of this stuff. Interesting that mashups originally started as a music term. Indicative of the spread of knowledge and that people latch on to the relevant and make it their own. I find it both interesting and frustrating that you can start with a definate idea in mind, ie photos of frogs and end up with photos of someone's girlfriend and a site in Australia that will sell you illuminated pins.

THING # 4 FLICKR

Flickr could be the type of place where people who have no life could end up spending alot of time. The images and scope seem breathtaking and engrossing. This is before you even begin to explore posting your own (humble) photos up for family and friends to view. I would definately like to revisit this site in more depth at a future date as I can see how it could be of some relevance in my life. Some research into uploading and other ways of getting photos on and off Flickr would be necessary.

THING #2 BLOG

This is actually the second time I have attempted to set up a "Blog". The first time I got this far I received sad news in the middle of it and since then all I learned went straight out of my head. Extremely inconvenient!! Still here we go kicking and screaming into the world of technology. My intention is to have some fun and learn something interesting. It would be nice to be excited by all the stuff out there these days rather than thinking of it in terms of more work and something else that has dibs on my time. Here goes!!
